Hi there, many thanks for my bike. I am very pleased. David, Ilford

Just to say I received the M3R and all was good. My colleagues were astounded by the condition of it, as it looked as new. My only problem was that I then had two bikes in the workshop so I had to run in this morning so I could ride the Brompton home. but it rode the 4 miles perfectly!

As expected I received my bike on Tuesday. Thank you very much for the bike which is superb! I was considering bidding for Bromptons on ebay but I am very glad I purchased from We Love Bromptons instead. The assessment of 9/10 for condition is perfect and the service that you have provided has been outstanding. Brilliant! Many, many Thanks. Lee, St Ives

So back in April I entered the race and started my internet search for a second hand Brompton cycle. It wasn’t long before I stumbled across ‘We Love Bromptons’ where I saw a Black M6L for sale at a great price.

It was perfect for the job in hand and the only change I made was upgrading the tyres to Schwalbe slicks, hoping that it would not rain on the day of the event

After months of training at a gym on a spin cycle the day was finally here and I set off at 7 o’clock from Cambridge to Oxford. I arrived at Blenheim Palace at just gone 9 o’clock which was already being taken over by Brompton’s in all different colours, with their owners dressed the required jacket and tie dress code.

The day was already starting to warm up and the forecast was for +25C temperatures, so I took a slow stroll over to registration then on to the starting grid to leave my bike there ready for the start. The organisers have really thought the event through and you can safely leave your bike in the holding area with no worries or need to lock it up. Now all I had to do was wait for the 12:30 start and hope we kept a bit of could cover to keep away the midday sun.

Unfolding the bike was easy, I’d been practicing and perfecting the art. Unfortunately for me this is not part of the race timing, you can take 10 minutes if you like but it’s always nice to get ahead of the crowd. Once ready it’s a short jog to the start road where you can get up some speed before you go over the start line and the race begins.

Blenheim Palace is a beautiful building and the grounds around it are absolutely stunning. I did get time to have a couple of glances in between ringing my bell and overtaking a couple of participants. As I headed around the back of the palace the terrain changed into what we would call ‘challenging’. The slight slope turned in to a hill which I had no idea of when it would end, I felt like I was going to grind to a halt. Pushing on I made it to the top and I was rewarded with a gentle descent past a tree with a crash mat tied to it, for a minute I thought I was taking part in the Isle of Man TT.

I’d set my GPS watch for a finish time of 30 minutes and so far I was aheadナ. until the next hill. Some people had sadly ran out of steam and were walking up this section, but I pushed on despite feeling like I was actually going backwards. Needless to say this was rewarded with one giant slope down where my feet could not go any faster and it was time to freewheel and get my heart rate back down. The cattle grid at the bottom had been covered though I still hung onto the handlebars for dear life as I reached speeds over just over 30MPH! Feeling better for the rest I headed down the final straight for lap number twoナ yes we had to do it twice! At least I knew what I was up against the second time around.

Giving it all I had left on the final straight whilst ringing my bell for the spectators I crossed the line 9 minutes after the winner (Michael Hutchinson) with a time of 29:17 which I was most pleased with. Brilliant day out, lovely participants, spectators and organisers. It has to be one of the best events I’ve taken part in.

Now I’m proud owner of a ‘BWC World Championship 2012’ medal, cup and t-shirt I have the dilemma of sell the bike or race again next year, maybe I’ll see you there?..

Just a note to say that the bike arrived safely today, as promised. I am delighted with my purchase, the 9/10 rating that you gave was conservative, I would give it 10/10 as it could not be better for a used buy.Chris, Cheshire
